Nationwide coordination • In-person USCIS interviews

Your green card interview.
In your language.

Professional in-person interpreters for marriage-based green card, family immigration and adjustment-of-status interviews. Rush Translations & Immigrant Services checks availability for your language, date and USCIS office nationwide.

A request is not a confirmed booking. Availability and the required payment must be confirmed before an interpreter is reserved. [3]

In-person support for your USCIS green card interview

This service is for applicants and immigration attorneys arranging spoken-language interpretation at a domestic USCIS interview. It is not document translation or legal representation.

Marriage-based interviews

Request an independent interpreter for an eligible marriage-based green card interview. Give your spouse room to participate in their own role rather than relying on them to interpret.

Family immigration interviews

Send the appointment notice details for a family-based or I-130-related USCIS interview so our team can review the language, location and assignment requirements.

Adjustment-of-status interviews

Request interpretation for an eligible I-485 interview, including family-based or other green-card-related appointments. Describe the case category when requesting service.

Have an employment-based or VAWA-related USCIS appointment? Tell our team the interview type when you request a quote. Assignment suitability and availability are reviewed individually. This page does not cover overseas consular interviews or immigration-court hearings.

Why choose Rush Translations & Immigrant Services?

Appointment-focused coordination

Our team reviews the interview type, language and exact office location together. Your request is assessed for the actual appointment, not just a language name on a list.

Screening and confidentiality

Interpreters are screened before entering the active pool, and every active-pool interpreter must sign a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement. [3]

Written booking terms

Review the quote, reserved time and applicable change or cancellation terms before confirming. Keep one written reference for the appointment rather than relying on verbal assumptions.

Who can interpret at a green card interview?

For covered domestic interviews using an applicant-provided interpreter, USCIS evaluates fluency, competence and impartiality. The officer decides whether the proposed interpreter meets the requirements. [2]

Key considerations when choosing an interpreter
Consideration What to check
Language and role Fluent in English and your language; able to interpret accurately, completely and without bias.
Age and conflicts Generally at least 18 and not a witness in the case. Limited good-cause exceptions apply to certain restrictions; do not assume an exception.
Attorney or representative Your attorney or accredited representative cannot also serve as your interpreter at that interview.
Form G-1256 For applicable interviews, the interviewee and interpreter sign the declaration in the officer's presence, not in advance.

Use the official Form G-1256 page for the current form and instructions. Follow your appointment notice and any USCIS directions. Our USCIS interpreter requirements guide provides additional context. [1]

How to request your green card interview interpreter

  1. Send the details

Use the existing request form. Include the language, date, time, office address and interview type.

  2. Review your quote

Our team checks the assignment and availability, then sends a written quote and booking terms.

  3. Confirm the booking

Complete the acceptance and payment steps provided by our team. Wait for confirmation that your interpreter is reserved.

  4. Meet as instructed

Follow the confirmed meeting and arrival instructions. Tell our team promptly about changes to the appointment.

You do not need to place another order for certified document translation to request an interpreter. These are separate services.

What does a green card interview interpreter cost?

There is no single nationwide price for every assignment. Language, location, appointment timing, reserved duration, travel and local availability affect the written quote. Most appointments use a half-day booking structure, with full-day reservations where appropriate. [3]

Ask what time is reserved, what is included and how changes are handled before confirming. For background rather than a booking price, read our USCIS interpreter cost guide .

Before interview day

  • Check that the address matches the appointment notice, not just the city name.
  • Confirm the contact person and meeting instructions.
  • Keep legal preparation with your attorney or accredited representative.
  • Tell our team immediately if USCIS changes the date, time or location.

Many languages. Nationwide appointment coordination.

Requests include Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Russian, Mandarin and Cantonese, among other languages. Tell us the language you are most comfortable using, including any regional-language requirement. Availability is checked for your specific date and office. [3]

We review requests across all 50 states, including locations beyond the examples below. Use your exact USCIS appointment address when requesting coverage.

For immigration attorneys and law firms

Use the same request process for a client's green card interview. Identify the firm's contact person, appointment type, language and office, and tell us who should receive the quote and coordination messages.

For a sensitive assignment, share relevant communication needs privately with our team. Interpreter coordination does not replace case assessment or legal advice.

A clear division of responsibilities

The applicant answers the officer's questions. The interpreter communicates what is said rather than coaching answers or arguing the case. Your legal representative retains the legal-advice role.

Green card interpreter questions

Can my spouse or another family member interpret?

Not every relative is automatically prohibited, but impartiality and witness restrictions matter. A petitioning spouse is generally a witness, so do not assume they can interpret. USCIS decides whether a permitted exception applies. [2]

Does the interpreter need to be USCIS-certified?

The USCIS guidance evaluates competence and impartiality, not a blanket requirement to hold a USCIS interpreter certification. Private credentials do not guarantee acceptance. [2]

Will the interpreter attend in person?

Yes. This service is for an interpreter to attend the confirmed USCIS appointment in person. The quote and confirmation identify the assignment being arranged; do not assume a remote service is included.

Can you review an urgent or less common-language request?

Yes. Submit the exact language, date, time and office location as soon as possible. Our team reviews urgent and harder-to-source requests, but neither an inquiry nor a listed language guarantees an available interpreter.

What happens if USCIS reschedules the interview?

Our published policy provides no additional rescheduling charge for a USCIS date change, subject to availability on the new date. Customer-requested changes and cancellations follow the written booking terms. [3]

What happens if the officer rejects the assigned interpreter?

USCIS controls acceptance. Rush Translations & Immigrant Services' published protection provides a full refund if the officer rejects the interpreter we assigned. Review the written terms for your booking; interpreter service never guarantees a case outcome. [3]

Is certified document translation included?

No. Interpretation is spoken communication at the appointment. Translation produces written documents. USCIS document translation can be requested separately when you need both services.
